The management of viral diseases remains a critical global health challenge, with viral entry and fusion inhibitors playing a pivotal role in antiviral strategies. This review explores the complexities of developing effective inhibitors, highlighting key challenges such as resistance, specificity, and delivery. It discusses the potential of emerging technologies, including nanotechnology and CRISPR-Cas9, to enhance inhibitor development. The feasibility of broad-spectrum inhibitors targeting conserved viral mechanisms is evaluated, underscoring the need for a nuanced understanding of viral entry processes.
