Abstract

Competitive sports play a significant role in the development of young athletes, influencing their psychological well-being, social skills, and overall mental health. This article explores the multifaceted psychological effects of competitive sports on young athletes, examining both the positive and negative impacts. The study employs a comprehensive review of existing literature, case studies, and empirical research to provide a holistic understanding of the topic. The findings reveal that while competitive sports can enhance self-esteem, resilience, and teamwork, they can also lead to stress, anxiety, and burnout. The article concludes with recommendations for parents, coaches, and sports organizations to mitigate negative effects and promote a healthy sporting environment for young athletes.
